The Belgian Financial Forum, together with Impact Finance Belgium cordially invites you to an event focusing on investing with positive impact.

We are living in uncertain times, making it increasingly difficult to offer a clear perspective of the future of the sustainable and impact investing market, which is striving for long term viability of people and planet. Recent setbacks—such as the collapse of the Net Zero Insurance Alliance, frozen U.S. funding for green projects, and cuts to development aid—highlight these challenges. These setbacks can be discouraging, even demoralizing, but they are not unprecedented. History shows that changes in financial frameworks have always occurred and, in fact, have played a crucial role in shaping the foundations of today’s financial sector.

Initially driven by philanthropy, investing with positive impact has evolved over the years into a sustainable and scalable business model, increasingly attracting mainstream players such as institutional investors, banks, public funds, and private impact funds.

Two primary approaches have emerged: one focuses on minimizing negative outcomes (often referred to as responsible investing), while the other approach actively seeks to generate positive change (commonly known as sustainable and impact investing).

These themes will be explored in depth during the event.

In this upcoming session, both the potential and the limitations of investing with positive impact will be illustrated, with a focus on:

  • The "Why": Why investing with positive impact is crucial in addressing today’s social and environmental challenges.
  • The "How": The various instruments and strategies applicable within investing with positive impact.
    • The "Who": Profiles of current actors in the Belgian impact landscape and insights into their journeys.
  • The "What": Strategic focus and the specific activities it undertakes to advance investing with positive impact in Belgium.
  • Real-World Examples: Practical cases from Belgian and neighbouring markets to showcase investing with positive impact in action.

Do not hesitate to forward this invitation to other interested parties.

Language: The colloquium will be held in English. There will be no simultaneous translation.

Please let us know in time if you are unable to attend the event. This helps us in efficient organisation and preventing food waste.
